Hotel Lift in Sasaram for Highway Hotels, Lodges and Guest Houses

Guest lifts, service lifts and kitchen dumbwaiters for hotels and guest houses in Sasaram, with a quiet ride, lobby-grade finishes and round-the-clock support.

Most guests reach a Sasaram hotel by road, often after dark and with a bag in each hand. The lift is the second thing they meet after the reception desk, and they judge the property by it. A hotel lift in Sasaram has three jobs at once: carry guests quietly, move luggage and housekeeping without fuss, and keep working at two in the morning when a wedding party checks in.

Eldeal Engineers supplies, installs and maintains lifts and elevators for hotels, guest houses and lodges from its corporate office on Old G.T. Road, Sasaram. Our hospitality clients include Samridhi Hotel & Resorts in Sasaram. This page is written for owners and managers who are planning a new property, adding floors or putting a lift into a building that never had one.

Luggage, trolleys and the car that really fits them

Capacity in kilograms rarely limits a hotel lift. Shape does. A family arriving for a wedding brings several large suitcases, and a housekeeping cart is longer than it looks on a drawing. Before the shaft size is fixed, measure the largest things your staff will push into the car:

  • the luggage trolley, loaded, including its handle;
  • the housekeeping cart and the room-service trolley;
  • a folded extra bed, and a mattress on its side for the day rooms are refurbished.

Give us the length, width and height and we set the car depth and the clear door opening around them. As a rough guide, clear door openings on passenger lifts commonly run from about 700 mm to 900 mm or more; the wider end makes trolley work far easier. Centre-opening doors are quick and suit the guest lift. Telescopic side-opening doors give a wider opening from a narrow shaft, which suits a service lift. On any car that takes trolleys, a bumper rail and tough lower wall panels save the finish.

Three kinds of traffic in one building

A hotel moves guests, staff and food, and each moves differently. Mixing all three in one car is the most common reason guests end up waiting beside a linen trolley. The figures below are typical industry ranges and are indicative only.

LiftWhat it carriesWhere it opensTypical size
Guest liftGuests, hand luggage, a luggage trolleyLobby and room corridors8–13 persons (544–884 kg)
Service liftHousekeeping carts, linen, room-service trolleys, furniture, staffBack-of-house passage on each floor10–16 persons (680–1088 kg)
DumbwaiterPlates, trays and linen bags only, never peopleKitchen, pantry or restaurant counter50–150 kg

A small guest house or lodge usually runs well on one guest lift, with a dumbwaiter lift if the kitchen sits on another floor. Once a hotel has a restaurant, a banquet floor and daily linen changes on several levels, a separate service lift keeps housekeeping out of the guest car. The guest lift itself is a passenger elevator, sized and finished for hospitality use.

Two in the morning: who looks after a hotel lift in Sasaram

A hotel never closes, so the lift cannot keep office hours. Three layers protect a late-arriving guest:

  1. In the car: an Automatic Rescue Device (ARD) that brings the car to the nearest floor and opens the doors in a power cut, plus an emergency light, an alarm and an intercom to reception.
  2. At your desk: a night manager who knows how to reassure a guest over the intercom, when to switch the lift off and whom to call. We brief front-desk and security staff at handover.
  3. From us: a 24/7 support line answered by a team based in the same town. Under a lift AMC in Sasaram, servicing follows a fixed schedule so that fewer faults reach your guests in the first place.

Arrange a service visit before the wedding season starts. Door sensors, the ARD battery and the changeover to your generator should all be checked before the busiest nights, not during them. For faults between visits, our lift repair team in Sasaram attends lifts of our own make and other brands.

A quiet ride and a cabin that belongs to the lobby

Guests notice three things: a jerk at the start, a step at the landing and noise outside their room. A V3F drive deals with the first two. It accelerates and brakes gently and stops level with the floor, so trolley wheels do not catch. Noise is mostly a planning matter. In a machine-room-less lift the machine sits inside the top of the shaft, so place a corridor or store beside it, not a bedroom. Our article on MRL and machine room lifts explains both layouts.

The cabin should look like part of the hotel. Common choices are hairline or mirror stainless steel, wood-look panels, a mirror on the rear wall, a handrail, warm lighting and flooring that matches the lobby. Sasaram's summers are dusty, so pick surfaces that wipe clean and keep delicate finishes above trolley height.

Adding a lift to a hotel that is already open

Many older guest houses along the highway were built as G+2 or G+3 buildings without a lift. A shaft can often be formed beside the staircase or added as a structure on the outside wall, after a structural engineer has checked the building. A machine-room-less design leaves the roof free for a terrace restaurant or solar panels. We barricade the work, agree noisy hours with your manager and keep dust away from occupied floors.

A capsule lift as the lobby showpiece

For a hotel with a double-height lobby or a front wall facing the Grand Trunk Road, a glass capsule elevator turns the lift into a feature that is visible from the forecourt. It needs a glass or framed shaft, attention to afternoon heat and a plan for cleaning the glass. It also costs more than a standard car. A sensible arrangement is a capsule lift for guests and a plain, strong service lift at the back for everything else.

IS 17900, the Bihar bill and what a quotation depends on

As per BIS, IS 17900 became mandatory for new lift installations from 22 December 2025, with emphasis on UCMP, ACOP and ARD. The Bihar Lift and Escalator Bill, 2024, passed by the Bihar Assembly on 2 August 2024, provides for registration, inspection, mandatory maintenance and third-party insurance. Taller hotels should also check the fire lift requirements in the National Building Code 2016, Part 8 Section 5. Please confirm the current notifications with your architect and the local authority.

The price depends on the number of lifts and stops, car size, door type, cabin finish, a machine room or MRL layout, and any civil work. A capsule lift or a separate service lift changes the figure a good deal, so we do not quote before seeing the building. After a free site survey you receive a written, itemised quotation.

Our guest house has rooms on three upper floors. Is one lift enough?

For a small property, one well-sized guest lift is usually enough, provided housekeeping moves linen outside check-in and check-out hours. Add a dumbwaiter if the kitchen and the dining area are on different floors. A second, service lift starts to make sense once you have a restaurant, a banquet floor and daily linen changes on several floors.

Can housekeeping and room service share the guest lift?

They can, and in many smaller hotels they do. The cost is slower service at busy hours and more scuffs inside the cabin. If you share one lift, choose a deeper car, hard-wearing lower wall panels and a fixed housekeeping timetable. If you can spare a second shaft, give staff their own service lift.

Will guests in the rooms beside the lift shaft hear it at night?

A V3F drive starts and stops gently and modern door operators are quiet, so the lift itself makes little noise. The room layout matters more. We suggest keeping a corridor, store or linen room against the shaft and near the machine, not a bed headboard. Raise this at design stage, before the walls are built.

What happens if a guest is inside the lift when the power fails late at night?

The Automatic Rescue Device moves the car to the nearest floor and opens the doors, so the guest can walk out. The emergency light stays on and the intercom connects to your reception desk. If the lift does not restart after power returns, your night manager calls our 24/7 support line.

Can a lift be added to a running hotel without closing it?

Usually yes. The shaft is barricaded floor by floor, noisy work is planned for the hours between check-out and check-in, and material moves through a service entrance where one exists. Many owners schedule the work for their quieter months, outside the wedding season.

Is a glass capsule lift practical for a hotel facing the highway in Sasaram?

It can be, if heat and dust are planned for. The afternoon sun on a glass shaft warms the car, so the direction it faces, tinted or heat-reducing glass and cabin ventilation all matter. Glass also needs regular cleaning to look good beside a busy road. Our engineer checks these points at the survey.
