What makes a hospital elevator different
A deep car for beds and stretchers
A standard passenger car is roughly square. A bed lift is long and narrow so that a hospital bed or trolley fits with space for one or two attendants at the side. The door opening must also be wide enough for the bed to move in without tilting.
Precise floor levelling
Even a small step between the car and the floor can jolt a patient or catch a trolley wheel. Our V3F drives control speed closely and stop the car level with the landing, trip after trip.
Gentle acceleration
Patients after surgery, women in labour and people on drips should not feel sudden jerks. The V3F drive ramps speed up and down smoothly.
Continuity during power failure
A lift stuck between floors with a patient inside is a real emergency. Every Eldeal hospital lift has an Automatic Rescue Device (ARD) that brings the car to the nearest floor and opens the doors. We also advise hospitals on connecting lifts to their backup generator supply.

Planning a lift for your hospital
Good lift planning starts with how the hospital works. Where are the operation theatres, ICU, labour room and emergency? How many beds move between floors each day? Do visitors need a separate lift so that patient lifts stay free? For multi-storey hospitals, separating patient and visitor traffic makes a big difference to response time.
The National Building Code 2016, Part 8 Section 5 covers building-side requirements for lifts, including fire lifts in taller buildings. As per BIS, IS 17900 became mandatory for new lift installations from 22 December 2025. The Bihar Lift and Escalator Bill, 2024 and the Uttar Pradesh Lifts and Escalators Act, 2024 add registration and regular maintenance duties for owners. Separate lifts for separate jobs
In a busy hospital, one lift trying to do everything becomes a bottleneck. Patient bed lifts, visitor lifts and service lifts for food, linen and waste each have a different job. Even a small nursing home benefits from keeping at least one lift reserved for patients. For the service side, a compact dumbwaiter can carry trays and medicines without tying up the bed lift.
